Gidugu is a Telugu font suitable for headlines, invitations and posters and is best used at large sizes. Gidugu is named after Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy, who championed using Telugu as a language for everyone, not only a scholastic language.

The OFL is “a free, libre and open source license specifically. This font is part of Microsoft Windows 10 software package so it cannot be downloaded separately. The different text fonts are all a part of the Unicode standard which means that they're not like normal.

The Telugu is designed and developed by Purushoth Kumar Guttula, and made available under the SIL Open Font License v1.1 by Silicon Andhra. The Latin is newly designed for this project by Eduardo Tunni, a type designer in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Gidugu project is led by Appaji Ambarisha Darbha, a type designer based in Hyderabad, India.

Gidugu font contains 509 defined characters and 425 unique glyphs. The font contains characters from the following unicode character ranges: Basic Latin (93), Latin-1 Supplement (95), Latin Extended-A (127), Latin Extended-B (12), Spacing Modifier Letters (8), Combining Diacritical Marks (1), Greek and Coptic (4), Devanagari (7), Telugu (93), Latin Extended Additional (8), General Punctuation (18), Superscripts and Subscripts (11), Currency Symbols (4), Letterlike Symbols (4), Arrows (4), Mathematical Operators (12), Geometric Shapes (1), Private Use Area (1), Alphabetic Presentation Forms (5).
